Two 4×4 grids. Either player may play in either grid.
On your turn, tap ROLL. The colour die tumbles for about a second, then settles on your rolled colour. Then tap a highlighted cell in either grid whose colour matches the roll.
First to connect 4 of your own pieces in a row, across, down, or diagonally in either grid wins. Opponent pieces block a line; only your own pieces count toward your line.
If your roll has no empty matching cell, you must remove one of your own pieces: tap any cell holding your piece, in either grid. That removal ends your turn. If you have no pieces on the board at all, your turn simply passes.
If a placement fills the board (all 32 cells occupied) with no winner, that game is a draw. The winner starts the next game; after a draw, the same starter starts the next game.
Play type (in Settings, tap the gear icon; applies to the next game). Vs AI is the default: you are Player 1, the AI is Player 2. Same device is 2-player pass-and-play. Online is coming soon / not yet set up: selecting it does not start an online game; play falls back to Vs AI for now. There is no backend, no Firebase, and no fake online opponent.
AI levels. Easy: the AI picks a random legal move. Medium: the AI wins if it can, otherwise blocks your immediate win if it can, otherwise picks randomly. Hard: the AI wins if it can, blocks if it can, otherwise prefers the move that builds the longest line of its own pieces (a 3-in-a-row first), and on a no-match removal it removes its least useful piece (see below). The first game is Easy; after that the level is randomised each new game, unless you explicitly pick a level in Settings, in which case that level sticks for every new game until you change it.
Hard removal, defined. Each of the AI's pieces is scored over every line through it: a line containing opponent pieces scores the number of opponent pieces it blocks; a line with no opponent pieces scores the number of its own pieces in that line. The AI removes its lowest-scoring piece.
Pieces (in Settings). You may only select your own piece. A piece chosen by one player is unavailable to the other: if you tap a piece the other player already has, you get a message to pick another and the first choice is kept, never silently overwritten. In Vs AI mode the human picker changes only your piece; the AI piece is assigned, not selectable by you. Defaults: Same device Player 1 = Diamond, Player 2 = Skull; Vs AI you = Diamond, AI = Skull (if you take Skull, the AI is assigned a random other piece). A piece change mid-game applies to the next game.
New Game lives under Settings (gear icon, top bar only) and needs two taps to confirm. The win/draw overlay also has its own New Game button. Reloading starts a fresh game. Your tally and piece choices are kept.
Quest. Tap the trophy in the top bar to open your quest: win at least one game as every piece. The quest panel lists all 15 pieces with their win count; pieces you have won with get a checkmark and a gold border, pieces you have not won with yet are greyed. Progress is shown as X/15 won, and quest wins are kept across reloads. A win counts only for the winning player's piece in that game; a draw counts for nobody.
Applies to the next game.
Online play is not yet set up. Selecting Online does not start an online game; play falls back to Vs AI for now. No backend, no fake opponent.
Applies to the next game; Auto = first game Easy, then randomised each new game.
Player 1 piece (applies to the next game if changed mid-game)
Player 2 piece (applies to the next game if changed mid-game)
Your piece (applies to the next game if changed mid-game; you cannot change the AI piece)
AI piece this game: (assigned at each new game, not selectable; if you take it, the AI is assigned a random other piece next game)
Goal: win at least one game as every piece.
